Lloyd Carr announced that he was retiring today after leading the Maize and Blue to 121 wins, five Big Ten titles and a national championship. This season was definitely one to forget for Michigan Wolverine football fans with losses to Appalachian State and once again Ohio State. There is a bitter taste in Michigan fan's mouths right now but hopefully they will recognize what Lloyd has contributed to the winningest college football program in the nation.
I WILL ALWAYS BLEED MAIZE AND BLUE BUT THIS ONE CUTS DEEP.
What is the world coming to? Michigan starting the season off 0-2 and losing two straight at home at the big house against Appalachian State and now Oregon? At the game in Ann Arbor, Michigan following the Appalachian State loss I've never seen so many distraught and shocked fans that were stone cold sober. I can only imagine the feelings that reside among other michigan fans right now regarding the direction of the team and more importantly the program.
Embarrassed. Depressed. Michigan lost to a Division I-AA team. It's not a nightmare ... this is reality. In some ways I guess it's better than going undefeated and then losing again to Ohio State. But a division I-AA team? The loss hurts more than just the W-L record of this team for this season but will be a puss filled wart on the honor and pride of the program.
Llyod must go. That doesn't need much convincing or explaining. I 'm going to turn the channel anytime there is a college football game this year. In fact, I'm not sure I want to see a football at all for a while. Michigan let themselves down, the Big Ten and their fans.
There will eventually be a new season. But this one will always sit deep in the heart of every Michigan fan. No amount of hiding, drinking and therapy will erase this memory.
Sam McGuffie is now a Michigan Wolverine. Check out this clip as he literally runs around, over and through people like a human tank.
The touchdown at the 1:12 minute left mark is RIDICULOUS!
