The Macbook Air Is About To Get Penryn-ized
It's that time again. If you own an apple computer, you probably fallen in love with your sleekly designed gadget and would never think about going back to the dark side (windows ..eh). But Apple likes to keep you fiending for more every six months because as soon as you start growing an attachment to your device, the folks at Cuppertino like to come out with version 2.0 and feed your tech envy.
And for a true Apple fiend, resistance is futile. Just ask all the people who stood in line for an iPhone 3G.
Looks like owners of Macbook Air's are about to get that itch very soon. PhoneNews is reporting that they can confirm that Apple is about to give MacBook Air an upgrade to the Penryn class Intel chips. What does this mean ?
This upgrade to the Penryn chips will give hte Macbook Air's a speed boost of up to 3.06 Ghtz. If this newer model includes the new Intel Centrino 2 chipset, this will probably mean improved graphics performance. Lets hope that the folks at Apple will be able to extend the battery life of this waiftop with this new power hungry processor. With the new dell business laptops now approaching 19+hours of battery life, 4 hours on a single charge is no longer acceptable.
With rumors flying around indicating all the Apple laptop lines to recieve updates around September, it might be prudent to wait before making any impulsive purchases. Then again on the flip side, version 1.0 of any Apple product is usually a little rough around the corner. |

AMD today announced the world’s fastest graphics card, the ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2. The HD 4870 X2 is delivering 2.4 teraFLOPS of processing power. Also announced today is the ATI Radeon HD 4850 X2 graphics card, delivering good performance at a compelling price point. Insane processing power and a lower price point ? Sounds good to me.

Lenovo looks like they are priming to release a laptop just in time for the back to school season in September. These mystery Lenovo laptops will supposedly come in 8.9 inch and 10.1 inch screen sizes with a 160GB hard drive, for around $400. Thats a pretty good deal on paper. Details are scarce about the specifics of the device but there is a leaked video. Sounds too good to be true ? Check out the video from lilputing.

Looks like there are rumors amuck ont he Internet that Apple is planning to release a new line of macbooks just in time for the back to school rush. According to Business week:
Enough already about the health of Apple (AAPL) CEO Steve Jobs. It's time to turn our attention to something more interesting—namely, that "future product transition" Apple Chief Financial Officer Peter Oppenheimer mentioned several times on the company's recent earnings conference call.
The smart money is on a revamp of Apple's notebook line. I know I'm not the first to opine on the matter, but here's why I'm expecting new iterations of the MacBook Pro to be a big part of the lineup that Apple expects to help narrow gross margins to 30% in fiscal 2009, from 35% in the third quarter, which wrapped up in June.
The first clue is the drop in margins itself. There are really two ways to reduce margins: Cut prices or increase the cost of the product by adding or improving features.

Here Is A Perfect Example Of
What Not To Wear To The Gym:
But It's A Hilarious Picture To Forward As An Email -
Was This Gym Aficionado Swallowed By A Leopard?
I hate spam and forwarded e-mails. They remain un-opened and are quickly disregarded. I simply do not have the time or the patience to respond let alone forward to ten other people within five minutes of receiving or else my computer might implode or a swarm of locust may attack. It just doesn’t make any sense. In the rare instance that a fellow friend, who is aware of my no-tolerance stance on cyber junk mail, does forward a piece of electronic mail I know that with complete certainty it must be worth a quick glance. This very thing just happened the other night and I was forced to laugh my ass off at this gem of a photo waiting for me in my in box. I wish I had been in possession of this fabulous visual when I had written the Gym Etiquette article. The picture speaks volumes and is definitely a gym “no, no”. But more importantly how much of what one really forwards on to others gets opened and appreciated or is most of it just time-wasters and visual garbage?
It was challenging for me to inform family and friends of my desire to avoid being placed on their e-mail forward list. This can be a tricky conversation to have and if the subject is not handled delicately there is often a great deal of hurt feelings and misunderstanding. There is a "nice way" to ask someone you care about, relative, friend or associate to not forward attachments, chain emails, religious and political commentary or the jokes that are so prevalent online. And remember, worst case if you receive unwanted mail deleting it is as easy as hitting a simple key stroke. Here are a couple of easy steps to take to minimize e-mail aggravation when the most perfect message has been sent your way and you just must forward on.
