What's Your Cell Phone Doing To Your Body?
Cell phones have become such a staple of our daily lives. Our cellphones are our lifeline to the world around us. What did we do before we had all this wireless freedom ? I guess we actually had converstations with people face to face? But did you ever sit and wonder what putting your cell phone up to your ear is really doing to your body and your brain ? What about just having that tiny device in your pocket emitting radiation so close to your trusted family jewels every day ? Just think about the sounds a cell phone makes when it's near a speaker sometimes.
Well according to Devra Davis from the University of Pittsburgh Center for Environmental Oncology, our fears might actually be something to worry about.

Are You Polite in The Gym?
Fitness studios and gyms are an enigma. It is a place where people go to honor their body by working on strengthening and conditioning. It is place to relieve stress, to clear the mind. A 30-foot-tall cigarette butt sits in the middle of Trafalgar Square in London, England. The Keep Britain Tidy campaign erected the structure as a reminder to citizens that cigarette litter dirties 78% of the streets in the United Kingdom. The pollution number is on the rise since Britain's ban on smoking in public places was put in place. According to ButtsOut, the world annually discards about 4.3 trillion cigarette butts. By some estimates, 30% of all cigarettes smoked end up as liter, and although small in themselves, can create over 500,000 tons of pollution per year. So gross! Here are twenty reasons not to smoke or just ditch the cancer causing sticks cold turkey. |

In order to lose weight, how much would one have to walk? The US Surgeon General recommends: "Be physically active for at least 30 minutes (adults) or 60 minutes (children) on most days of the week." This level of activity burns approximately 150 calories, which would burn 5 pounds in 6 months. Walking is a gentle, low-impact exercise that can ease you into a higher level of fitness and health. It's one of your body's most natural forms of exercise. It's safe, simple, doesn't require practice, and the health benefits are many, for instance: reducing one’s risk of a heart attack, manage one’s blood pressure, reduce the risk of one developing type 2 diabetes, stress relief, weight management, and the building of a strong, fit body. This level of exercise, however, should be considered the minimum daily requirement, regardless of weight.

That Trusty Old Nalgene Bottle Might Be Harmful To Your Health ?
Nalgene, the company that became the generic name for polycarbonate bottles, has thrown in the towel on Bisphenol A. “Based on all available scientific evidence, we continue to believe that Nalgene products containing BPA are safe for their intended use,” Steven Silverman, the general manager of the Nalgene unit, said in a statement. “However, our customers indicated they preferred BPA-free alternatives, and we acted in response to those concerns.”

“Watch it wiggle, see it giggle” sings the Jell-O advertisement. Make sure the catchy tune stops with flavored gelatin. In other words, nobody wants a flabby set of abs. The desire for the sleek, strong wash board mid-section is on everyone’s wish list. Is there no greater status symbol in the fitness world then a set of six pack abdominals? The fact remains, many people work hard to attain that solid, ripped center. But there is more to a strong set of abdominals than just aesthetics.
Even if you're not overweight, fat around the middle can be a health risk. Study after study indicates that individuals with belly fat have an increased risk of life-threatening diseases. The National Institutes of Health report that a waistline of 40 inches for men signals an exponentially increased risk for heart disease. Now factor in that the average American man’s waistline is a staggering 38.8 inches. This flabby center is in need of a major over-haul. In fact, physicians today are advocating that their male patients limit waist size to 35 inches for optimum health. In addition to the threat of heart disease, obese individuals are 33% more likely to suffer from the occurrence of cancer than lean individuals. The next major health concern overweight Americans face is the rampant rise of adult-onset diabetes. It appears that years of polishing off plates of high-carbohydrate foods are finally beginning to catch up with the masses in epidemic proportions. It all boils down to belly fat; the less of it one possess the increased chances of a healthy, long life.
