It's January, and an Indian chief thinks it is going to be a cold winter.  He instructs his tribe to start collecting wood to be prepared.  To double-check his prediction he calls the National Weather Service and asks a meteorologist if this winter is going to be an especially cold one.

Last week two things happened which turned my focus inward. I was gifted several pair of barely worn designer jeans which fit beautifully and I was introduced to the word “Freeganism”. For the latter discovery, I was handed a compilation of articles from a dear friend who son’s has been recently syndicated with several noteworthy news sources. 

One of the articles that drew my attention was about Freegans and it was written in 2005. As I waited for the bridge to rise for the overly opulent sailboat crossing through the Intracoastal Waterway I read the witty and satirically opinionated article.   I had never heard the term.  Perhaps it was a simple attack on extreme “consumerism” invading the country. And if it truly were a grass roots movement, why hadn’t I heard of it?  Then I tuned in to Oprah and Lisa Ling. 

Let me see if I can explain what is going on here.  There are a bunch of hot young girls in bikinis lying in a row on their backs.  They appear to be all oiled up and the object of the game is to see how far a man (who is also covered in goo) can slide accross their glistening bodies.  I know we have Howie Mandel and the Deal or No Deal girls where contestants can win a lot of money but how much more awesome would Deal or No Deal be if it was played this way instead.

The pollution number is on the rise since Britain's ban on smoking in public places was put in place. According to ButtsOut, the world annually discards about 4.3 trillion cigarette butts. By some estimates, 30% of all cigarettes smoked end up as liter, and although small in themselves, can create over 500,000 tons of pollution per year. So gross!
