Scott Wade is a genius. Who the hell looks at a dirty window and thinks of anything other than an over-priced car wash that will beg the Universe to rain within 3 hours of the car being cleaned? Okay, maybe a filthy car and/ or window had called upon your “Captain Obvious” character trait and you found yourself scribbling on a stranger’s car, “wash me!” or even drew an original smiley face. But what Scott Wade does is unique and so impermanent. Wade, who lives on an unpaved road of limestone clay and gravel, considers the back glass of his MINI Cooper his fresh canvas. In addition to his fingers, Wade also uses traditional tools like brushes as well as unconventional ones like popsicle sticks to create his inspired dust art. The coolest part of Wade’s artwork is that it morphs on its own. As he continues to drive down the dusty alley or when it rains, the environmental elements go to work and change the image by deepening the patina aspects or adding curious stripes and shading or by even obliterating portion of the work, even sometimes the entire work. Check out some of his work below.
I love art. But, what I admire most are different and usual pieces of art or objects, those objects that make one wonder and ask questions. Questions like, “how did they do that?” or “why did they do that?” And I totally believe that there are two sides to every story, image or thought, or any situation for that matter. The key component in the equation is being open minded enough to sit back and take in something new, even if eventually one decides they do not agree or can not appreciate the concept, at least it was up for consideration. This isn’t your typical art medium but Wade is a talented man with a curious mind and a wonderful edge.
